How to use

  1. Pick the start and end dates.
  2. Decide whether the end date itself counts — leave requests usually say yes, notice periods usually say no.
  3. Read the total, then the calendar breakdown underneath it.
  4. Use the working-days figure for anything measured in business days.

Features

  • Total days, weeks and days, and the years-months-days breakdown together.
  • Working days and weekend days counted separately.
  • Dates entered the wrong way round are swapped, and the page says so.
  • Leap days handled — including the month-end cases that make other calculators report negative days.
  • Runs entirely in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I get a different answer elsewhere?
Almost always because of the end date. From Monday to Friday there are four days between and five days of work: both are correct answers to different questions. Rather than pick one silently, this page makes it a checkbox, so you can see which one you asked for.
Are public holidays taken out of the working days?
No. Holidays differ by country, by province and by year — Tết moves every year, and half of Europe's holidays follow Easter. A tool that guessed would be quietly wrong for most of its users, so the figure here is Monday to Friday and nothing more. Subtract your own holiday count from it.
How is “2 years, 6 months and 29 days” worked out?
By counting whole months first, then the days left over. The obvious alternative — subtract the years, the months and the days separately, borrowing when a field goes negative — breaks whenever the start day does not exist in the previous month, and reports things like “1 month, −2 days” for 31 January to 1 March.
Does the time of day matter?
No. These are calendar dates, counted in UTC so the answer cannot shift by a day depending on where you are. If you need hours and minutes between two moments, that is a different question — and a different tool.

Add up hours and minutes without getting 21:90 — and get the decimal total payroll asks for.

Calculate exact age from a date of birth.

See one moment across several places at once — with the hours that do not exist called out.

Convert a Unix timestamp to a date, or a date to a timestamp — in UTC and your own zone.
