How to use

  1. Choose the direction — from an offer letter's gross, or from the net you want to take home.
  2. Enter the amount and the number of registered dependants.
  3. Read the band table: each slice of income is taxed at its own rate.
  4. Check the deductions and caps at the bottom against current regulations before relying on the figure.

Features

  • Both directions, with net → gross solved exactly rather than approximated.
  • Employee insurance at 8% + 1.5% + 1%, with the social/health and unemployment caps applied separately.
  • All seven progressive bands shown, with the amount taxed in each.
  • Deductions and caps editable, because they are set by decree and move.
  • Runs entirely in your browser — a salary is not something to send to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Why are the deductions editable?
Because they change, and a calculator with last year's numbers baked in is wrong in a way nobody can see. The personal deduction, the dependant deduction and both insurance caps are set by decree and have moved several times. They are shown with the values in common use at the time of writing, and you can correct them — which is more useful than a figure you have to take on trust.
Why is my tax lower than the band my salary falls in?
Because the bands are progressive: only the slice of income inside each band is taxed at that band's rate. A taxable income of 20 million is not taxed at 20% — it is 5% on the first five million, 10% on the next five, 15% on the next eight, and 20% only on the remainder. The table shows each slice.
Does this cover bonuses, overtime or foreign workers?
No. It calculates monthly employment income for a resident under the standard scheme. Bonuses paid in a single month push that month into higher bands, overtime premiums are partly exempt, non-residents are taxed at a flat rate, and probation contracts are often withheld at 10% instead. Treat this as the ordinary case, and your payroll department as the authority.

Add tax to a price, or take it back out of one that already includes it — the direction most calculators get wrong.

What savings become over time, with contributions — and how much of the result is interest rather than your own money.
